Story in Short

The movie begins in a lush, legendary forest where ancient creatures abide by the fundamental precept that they should never hurt people. They are there to defend humanity against malevolent forces. But when this law is broken—by mistake or design—it creates upheaval across periods, from centuries ago to a stormy present

Ayushmann portrays Alok Goyal, a reporter from a small village who, while investigating a strange story, inadvertently enters this magical world. There, he meets a mystery woman with connections to old stories named Tadaka (Rashmika Mandanna). Alok learns that he is a piece of a much bigger cosmic puzzle that has the power to change the destiny of both mythological creatures and people as he unearths mysteries hidden in mythology.

The title character, Thamma, is portrayed by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. She is a strong, colorful character whose intentions are unclear until the very last scene. His acting gives the supernatural heart of the movie a sense of grandeur and flair.

🌟 Ratings: “Expect the Unexpected”

Thamma received four stars from critic Taran Adarsh, who praised its novel, unpredictable plot and described it as “a delicious cocktail of humour, supernatural, and romance.” He also praised Sarpotdar’s leadership for leading the franchise to new heights.

Reactions from the audience have been positive. Many call it a “terrific Diwali dhamaka” that strikes a balance between laughter and terror. With new characters and a deeper storyline, it marks a turning point for the MHCU, according to NDTV’s review, which describes it as “compact, impactful.”

Given its “engaging humour, strong performances, slick visuals, and inventive VFX,” the Times of India rated it 3.5 stars.

🎥 Vision & Direction: A Vision Beyond Genre

The daring directing of Aditya Sarpotdar skillfully combines romance, fantasy, and horror without sacrificing the coherence of the story. The movie sets the foundation for upcoming crossovers and sequels by bringing new, all-powerful characters to the MHCU.

Thamma is aesthetically beautiful. Rich in color and texture, the forest scenes are complemented by creative visual effects that give life to legendary animals and customs. The mood is enhanced by Sachin-Jigar’s soundtrack, which features catchy yet evocative tunes.

Franchise Impact

Thamma carries on Maddock’s history of fusing Indian mythology with genre film, following Stree, Roohi, Bhediya, Munjya, and Stree 2. Thamma pushes the franchise to new creative heights with its potential for crossover and new legendary aspects.

Box Office Buzz

Releasing on 21, Oct 2025, Thamma is already attracting audiences in spite of the lackluster pre-release publicity. Strong weekend results are anticipated by trade analysts, who attribute this to Ayushmann’s star power and the Diwali celebrations.

Final Verdict: A Mythical Masala worth Watching

Thamma is a genre-bending, mythology-rich adventure that dares to be unique; it’s not just another horror-comedy. For both MHCU enthusiasts and beginners, it’s a joyous delight with outstanding performances, artistic flare, and a centuries-spanning plot.

Thamma offers a cinematic experience that is as unpredictable as it is enjoyable, regardless of whether you are interested in the jokes, the narrative, or the stories.
