An innovative extended reality headset that brings in a new era of immersive computing, the Galaxy XR, has been formally presented by Samsung. The Galaxy XR, the first Android XR headset, combines state-of-the-art hardware, multimodal AI, and spatial computing to provide a futuristic experience for work, play, and exploration.
The Galaxy XR, which retails for $1,799 (about ₹1.58 lakh), is now offered in the US and South Korea, with India to follow shortly.

Developed on Android XR: A Novel Mixed Reality Platform
The Galaxy XR was created in partnership with Google and Qualcomm and is powered by the recently released Android XR platform, which is an extended reality-optimized version of Android.
This platform incorporates Google’s multimodal assistant Gemini AI, allowing for natural speech, vision, and gesture interactions.
Google’s President of the Android Ecosystem, Sameer Samat, stated that Android XR is the first Android platform designed specifically for the Gemini age.
