The acclaimed romantic comedy De De Pyaar De from Bollywood is returning with a sequel De De Pyaar De 2 and the drama is much more complex this time. Officially scheduled for release on November 14, 2025, De De Pyaar De 2 will arrive after time for Diwali. Rakul Preet Singh and Ajay Devgn reprise their unorthodox romance as Ashish and Ayesha. Although the teaser has fans giddy with anticipation, some people are taken aback, particularly by the surprising presence of R. Madhavan and the absence of Tabu.

💔 Where is Tabu?
Tabu portrayed Manju, Ashish’s ex-wife and the mother of his kids, in the first 2019 movie. Her persona gave the otherwise lighthearted romantic comedy emotional depth and sophistication. She became a fan favorite due to the widespread appreciation of her grounded performance and connection with Ajay Devgn. Audiences naturally anticipated her reappearance in the follow-up.
She isn’t mentioned in the just released trailer, though. She is absent from the advertising buzz, the credits, and the images. It’s still unclear if this is a conscious artistic choice, a scheduling difficulty, or a surprise cameo being kept under wraps. However, her absence has raised questions about whether De De Pyaar De 2 can maintain the same emotional equilibrium in her absence.
🎭 R. Madhavan Enters and Takes Center Stage
Although Tabu’s absence is noticeable, the teaser presents R. Madhavan as Ayesha’s father, a fresh and fascinating character. His part gives the narrative a new level of intergenerational strife. Madhavan portrays a traditional and protective father who is obviously uneasy about his daughter’s connection with a much older man. There are some notable face-offs because of the sarcasm, wit, and tension that permeate his interactions with Ajay Devgn’s character.
By providing Ashish with a fresh emotional and humorous counterpoint, Madhavan’s appearance appears to close the narrative vacuum created by Tabu’s absence. Additionally, his presence increases the film’s attractiveness by drawing in viewers who value his subtle acting and charisma on screen.
🌀 What’s New in The Sequal?
Where the first movie left off, De De Pyaar De 2 continues. Now, Ashish and Ayesha are attempting to win over her family, who are conservative and doubtful of their love. In an attempt to entice Ayesha away from Ashish, Meezaan Jafri, a “perfect match,” joins the cast. This creates a traditional love triangle, complete with miscommunications, uncomfortable family meals, and conflicts between generations.
Age-gap relationships, parental permission, and the changing notions of love and compatibility in contemporary India are among the topics that the movie is expected to examine.
🎶 Direction and Music
The sequel, which was produced by T-Series and Luv Films and directed by Anshul Sharma, has songs by Yo Yo Honey Singh, Payal Dev, and Jaani. It is anticipated that the soundtrack would have a blend of upbeat dance tracks and heartfelt ballads, making it ideal for the holiday season.
The trailer is visually stunning and focuses on rich colors, posh settings, and fashionable attire. The movie appears to have been made with Diwali entertainment in mind, with equal parts heart, humor, and intense drama.
Concluding Remarks
Despite taking some daring creative breaks, De De Pyaar De 2 is already proving to be a great sequel to the original. R. Madhavan’s arrival brings a new spark, while Tabu’s leaving creates a significant hole. With its Diwali release date, stellar cast, and intriguing plot, the movie is sure to be one of the biggest crowd-pleasers of the season.
